Enoshima Sea Candle lit up in blue (September 23)
To commemorate the International Day of Sign Languages, a special light-up event will be held at the Enoshima Sea Candle.

To coincide with the International Day of Sign Languages on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Enoshima Sea Candle will be specially illuminated in blue, the symbolic color of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD).
The International Day of Sign Languages is an international day established by the United Nations with the aim of promoting understanding that sign language is a language in itself and encouraging broader consideration of the rights of deaf people. In Japan, the same day is also designated as "Sign Language Day," and various initiatives are held throughout the country to deepen understanding of and interest in sign language.
The theme for 2026 is "Declaration of Deaf Human Rights."
We will illuminate the Enoshima Sea Candle, a symbol of Enoshima, in blue to convey our desire to respect the human rights of deaf people and promote understanding of sign language.
We hope that the blue light-up, shining brightly against the night view of Shonan, will provide an opportunity for you to reflect on a society that embraces diversity.
Also, the "Enoshima Lantern Festival" is being held in Enoshima until the same day. Please enjoy the special illumination along with the gentle lights that color the autumn night.
